With "BRITPOP", Robbie Williams releases an energetic album that was conceived as a tribute to the British music scene of the 90s - the era in which he began his solo career after leaving Take That in 1995. The album includes the previously released song "Rocket", which features rock legend Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) on a striking guitar solo and provides a taste of the powerful sound of the entire album.
The cover of "BRITPOP" features a painting of Robbie's iconic 1995 Glastonbury outfit - a red tracksuit - and underlines the nostalgic reference to the Britpop era. Robbie describes the project as follows:
"I wanted to write the album I wanted to release straight after I left Take That - in the heyday of Britpop. It's raw, guitar-heavy and even more anthemic than usual. I've worked with some of my musical heroes. There's a lot of 'Brit' in it - and of course a lot of 'pop' too. I'm very proud of this album and I'm looking forward to sharing it with my fans."
