When the Oscar Peterson Trio went into the studio with trumpeter and flugelhorn player Clark Terry in August 1964 to record this album, they had already been playing together for five years. The three musicians functioned like a perfectly oiled swing machine. The pianist generously gave his guest star plenty of space to shine as a soloist on his horns. The two fun blues numbers "Mumbles" and "Incoherent Blues" were particularly well received by the audience.
