Weezer – SZNZ: Spring

Weezer are proud to present one of their most exciting projects to date in 2023: "SZNZ", a song cycle of sorts with four EPs. Each EP offers its own palette of colors, creatures and emotions to explore.

The four "SZNZ" EPs each contain a song that combines a movement from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, which was one of the original sources of inspiration for the project, with pagan myths, religious rituals, magic, Shakespeare and more. The lyrics juxtapose ancient and modern elements in a seamless way that only Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo can.

Die-hard Weezer fans know that classical music, themes and opera have influenced Rivers before - Madame Butterfly was the overarching inspiration for the band's seminal work Pinkerton.

Do these compositions sound like an opera? - No. 
Do they sound like perfect Weezer rock gems, packed with insanely great melodies that fans have loved since the band's beginnings? - Hell yes.
