Produktbeskrivelse
Zoh Amba – Bhakti
"Zoh Amba, young tenor saxophonist from Kingsport, Tennesee has caught the attention and musical inspiration of the New York. Zoh grew up practicing saxophone in the forest surrounding her small town, playing music for the plants and animals as a sort of communion with nature. Her sound, as a result, comes from a unique place and conveys a wisdom and compassion beyond her years. Inspired by great tenor saxophonists such as Albert Ayler, Frank Wright, Frank Lowe, and David S. Ware, Amba has very quickly developed a singular voice, immediately recognizable and distinguished from her peers. In Bhakti, which means ""devotion to God"" in sanskrit, Amba brings together 3 other players with for a spontaneously composed set of pieces ranging from beautiful hymnal and pastoral balladry to pure fire music. She is joined by the prolific Tyshawn Sorey, her own close musical collaborator, pianist Micah Thomas, and metal-infused guitarist Matt Holleberg, whom she met through her recent collaborations with downtown icon John Zorn. The output of the session is pure energy and passion."
