Produktbeskrivelse

Pulp – Different Class

When two dogs (in this case Blur and Oasis) fight over a bone, sometimes an unknown third party can take the place of the no-show Stone Roses at Glastonbury Festival and run away with the title of best Britpop band of 1995. That was the case with Pulp, even if charismatic frontman Jarvis Cocker never liked the name. Pulp came, saw and recorded "Different Class" in 1995, one of the best albums of the genre. The inspiration for the title came from a friend of Cocker's who used the phrase "different class" to describe something that was "in a class of its own". Cocker liked the double meaning with its allusions to the British social system - a theme of several songs on the album. A message on the back of the record also refers to this idea:

"We don't want trouble, we just want the right to be different. That's all."

Two of the album's singles - "Common People" (#2 in the UK singles charts) and "Disco 2000" (#7) - were particularly notable and helped Pulp achieve nationwide fame.

Finally, "Different Class" was awarded the Mercury Music Prize in 1996. in 1998, Q readers voted Different Class the 37th best album of all time.
