Vince Guaraldi – Oh,Good Grief!

Many people got to know Vince Guaraldi through his 1963 Grammy®-winning song "Cast Your Fate To The Wind" or through the Top 10 cover by the group Sounds Orchestral two years later. Lee Mendelson heard Guaraldi's version while working on a Peanuts documentary and contacted Guaraldi to compose the music for the upcoming Peanuts Christmas special. It was an auspicious union in television and music history. With songs like "Linus And Lucy", the special was a hit, and for over five decades, not a Christmas season went by without a broadcast of the TV classic. The Peanuts/Guaraldi combination was so powerful and successful that Guaraldi composed the music for a total of 15 Peanuts television specials and the first feature film. in 1968, Vince moved from his longtime label Fantasy Records to his new label Warner Bros. Records. For his debut album "Oh, Good Grief!" he reinterpreted his Peanuts classics. In addition to the unmistakable Guaraldi sound of piano, bass and drums, this time he added electric guitar and harpsichord. The record was a huge success.
