"Masquerade", the ninth album by Running Wild, was released in 1995 and was the band's most ambitious album to date. As the first part of a three-part concept album, it marks episode 1 of a narrative about good and evil, which was continued on the following albums "The Rivalry" and "Victory".

The 13 tracks of "Masquerade" showcase the classic heavy metal storytelling that is characteristic of Running Wild in its purest form, while an epic story unfolds in songs such as "Lions Of The Sea" and "Soleil Royal".
