Gary Marks – Crossroads 

Crossroads presents an essential overview of the music of Gary Marks, the American singer, pianist, guitarist and producer whose work has quietly resonated for more than five decades. Known for writing songs exploring politics, personal freedom and social awareness, Marks developed a distinctive voice within the folk and jazz-influenced singer-songwriter tradition.

His 1974 album The Gathering became a cult favorite among collectors, often compared to the work of Tim Buckley for its adventurous arrangements and poetic songwriting. After stepping away from touring, Marks continued to compose and record independently, releasing a series of albums largely outside the mainstream music industry.

This Record Store Day 2026 edition gathers fourteen tracks spanning the 1970s to the present day, including nine previously unreleased recordings. The compilation features contributions from renowned musicians such as John Scofield and Paul McCandless, and showcases Marks’s lyrical depth and musical versatility. With its powerful songwriting and sociopolitical themes, Crossroads offers a compelling portrait of an artist whose work continues to resonate today.
