Reprinted on vinyl from Replay, Johnny Winter's 'Five After Four AM' is an anthology that collects ten songs from the very early career of the great blues and rock blues guitarist from Beaumont, Texas: the recordings, all made between 1962 and 1969 for small Texan labels before the artist signed with Columbia and largely produced by Roy Ames, include five original compositions by Winter (including the title track) and covers of classic Bo Diddley ('Road Runner'), Johnny 'Guitar' Watson ('Gangster Of Love'), Ray Charles ('Leave My Woman Alone') and Little Richard ('I Can't Believe You Want To Leave'), while surprisingly also finding 'By The Light' in the lineup Of The Silvery Moon ', an early twentieth century standard made famous by Doris Day.
