Haikara - Haikara

In English their name would be ‘Stork’ and these Finns fly as high as ‘Storks’ can fly. This quintet made some of the best and most complex music from Scandinavian countries. Released at the height of the prog rock craze in 1972, ‘Haikara’s debut album was modestly popular in Finland, but the band never made it to the kind of level of popularity as the British ‘King Crimson’ or their countrymen ‘Tasavallan Presidentti’, (featuring guitar virtuoso Jukka Tolonen). ‘Haikara’s eponymous album, however, sung in Finnish, is nowadays rightfully considered as one of the most important and artistically successful Finnish prog albums.
