Coldplay’s sixth record Ghost Stories sees them return to the stripped-back sound that preceded the colorful pop of 2011’s Mylo Xyloto. The first single, “Midnight,” is a sparse electronic affair that could be likened to the expansive music of Bon Iver, while sharing distinct similarities with the style of track producer and Viva la Vida collaborator Jon Hopkins’. The album was recorded at their own North London studios The Bakery & the Beehive with an impressive group of producers including Paul Epworth, Rik Simpson, and Daniel Green. ~ Scott Kerr
