London Philharmonic Orchestra – Plays Neil Diamond

Sweet Caroline, Oh Oh Oh.

Neil Diamond, born in Brooklyn on January 24, 1941, is one of music’s most influential figures. Raised in a Jewish family, he discovered his passion for music early on, drawing inspiration from folk traditions. As a teenager, he received his first guitar and began composing. After a brief pre-med stint at NYU, he left college to pursue songwriting full-time—a decision that changed his life. In the 1960s, while working in the Brill Building, Neil honed his craft by writing hits for other artists, including “I’m a Believer,” recorded by The Monkees. In 1966, he launched his solo career and quickly topped the charts with songs like “Sweet Caroline,” “Cracklin’ Rosie,” and “Holly Holy.” “Sweet Caroline” became a global anthem. Neil’s music blends catchy melodies with personal lyrics, expressing themes of love, longing, and resilience. His live performances, marked by charismatic energy and an intimate connection with his audience, cemented his status as a global icon. With over 130 million records sold and numerous accolades—including induction into both the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame—his legacy endures. Though he retired from touring in 2018 due to Parkinson’s, Neil continues to write and record. The world-famous London Philharmonic Orchestra presents Neil Diamond's greatest hits in majestic and symphonic orchestral versions.
