John Mayall's Bluesbreakers ‎– Crusade

John Mayall came from Macclesfield, Cheshire, and grew up in Cheadle Hulme. He had already made a name for himself in the Manchester blues scene before moving to London in 1963 at the urging of Alexis Korner.

Crusade, released in September 1967, introduced the world to another guitar protégé.

The 18-year-old Mick Taylor had crossed Mayall's path a few years earlier at a show in Hatfield: It was now time to join him, since Peter Green had left Mayall to form his own group.

The album was so titled because Mayall felt he would forever be on a crusade to bring the blues to as wide an audience as possible.

Listen to the version of Albert King's "Oh Pretty Woman" that opens the album. It's amazing!

This reissue is a faithful recreation of the original 1967 stereo release on Decca Records UK and has been pressed on high quality 180g vinyl.
