According to the Rolling Stone magazine, Jeff Beck is one of the five best guitarists ever and is often called the “guitarist’s guitarist”. He is also one of the three noted guitarists to have played with the legendary Yardbirds (the other two being Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page). Joined by longtime sparring partner Jan Hammer, Beck kicks the album off with Hammer’s “Star Cycle”. Most of the songs are almost Sci-Fi instrumental rock tunes with subtle hints of jazz and blues. Then you have the more rocking instrumentals such as “The Pump” or “The Golden Road”. The closing track “The Final Peace” was far ahead of its time (1980) with virtuoso guitarwork as we know it today from Joe Satriani, Jason Becker and Steve Vai.
