However, the audience, which was expecting a more traditional jazz or fusion act, was not very receptive—many actually booed the band during the set. Despite this, David Bowie and Jackson Browne were in the audience and were impressed by Vaughan's playing. This led to Vaughan playing guitar on Bowie's Let's Dance album and a recording opportunity with Browne, which helped launch his career. By 1985, Stevie Ray Vaughan was a blues-rock superstar, and his return to Montreux was met with a completely different reaction—this time, he was celebrated and received with standing ovations.
