English singer / songwriter Ian Gillan (born August 19, 1945) originally became successful in 1969 as the lead singer and lyricist of the band "Deep Purple". Gillan left Deep Purple in 1973 and subsequently formed "The Ian Gillan Band" (late 1975 / early '76.), which from 1978 was called merely "Gillan". After a period with "Black Sabbath" there was a reunion of "Deep Purple" in 1984 with Gillan. While Deep Purple are doing their last tour dates worldwide, we celebrate the "Gillan Years"
