"Under Jolly Roger" is the third studio album by German heavy metal band Running Wild. It marked a stylistic turning point where the group dropped the satanic symbolism they had previously used and adopted the pirate theme they became known for, creating and influencing what would later be known as the pirate metal subgenre of heavy metal in the 2000s. The title of the album comes from the famous Jolly Roger, the flag used by pirates to mark their ships.

Originally released in 1987, Running Wild's album "Under Jolly Roger" marked a fixed point in the history of heavy metal by giving birth to a new genre: Pirate Metal. It catapulted the band into the heavy metal hall of fame for good. "Under Jolly Roger" sold a quarter of a million copies worldwide.
