"This Mirror Weighs a Ton", Interpol's first album in four years and debut on Partisan Records, shows a band turning inward while moving forward. Throughout the album, reflection, distortion and perception become a lens through which familiar forms are refracted into something slightly alien, as if viewed in a different light.

Produced by Grammy and Oscar winner Andrew Wyatt (ROSALÍA, Charli XCX) and mixed by Dave Fridmann, the album brings vibrant new textures to the world of Interpol. Synthesizers, strings, acoustic guitars and percussion are integrated into the fabric of the songs, expanding the palette and revealing colors that were already dormant. Nothing seems artificial. Instead, the additions deepen the band's language, which is characterized by restraint, atmosphere and tension. At its heart remains the creative relationship between Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler and Sam Fogarino, a partnership now approaching its thirtieth anniversary, characterized by intuitive agreement and dynamism that continues to generate new possibilities.

The result is an album that feels expansive, mysterious and full of forward motion - not a reinvention, but an evolution that allows Interpol to continue to change without losing their identity.

"This Mirror Weighs A Ton" / "See Out Loud" is a study in duality, with Interpol fluidly shifting between familiarity and departure. The title track unfolds from a sparse progression into something expansive and textural, built from distorted bass, a wordless female voice and a sense of movement that feels like a tidal wave, warping the band's familiar language into something more expansive and unfamiliar. In contrast, "See Out Loud" carries the DNA of Interpol's earliest work - sharp, driving and direct - but complicates it with polyphonic vocals, shifting perspectives and a rare use of Kessler as lead singer. Both tracks reflect the interplay between structure and spontaneity that characterizes "This Mirror Weighs a Ton," expanding Interpol's world through fresh textures while keeping the instinctive chemistry between Banks, Kessler and Fogarino at the center.
