The best way to imagine Florence's character is as a big pile of contradictions: She is tough as nails and anxious at the same time, a bundle of nerves in which passion, dark sides and absolute joy are also laced together. "I already feel things very intensely; that's why music has to be such an intense experience for me. I'm either really devastated or overjoyed; tired or completely feverish about the whole thing. In the latter state I can definitely find the best new ideas, but it's also the most dangerous emotional state. Either a few good songs come out of it, or maybe a few broken hearts. Or broken tables. Or glasses."

As far as their debut album "Lungs" is concerned, the former has definitely come out of it - namely good songs. The ingredients? A powerful voice, paired with quirky melodies and self-contained soundscapes. Some people compare her to Kate Bush. But at the same time, there are also dark elements in her music à la Tom Waits and Nick Cave, and if anyone hears a hint of Björk, she will gladly accept that as a compliment.
