Atom Heart Mother is the fifth studio album by Pink Floyd. It was released on October 2, 1970 in the UK by Harvest and on October 10, 1970 in the USA by Capitol Records. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, England. This was the first Pink Floyd album to reach number 1 in the UK charts.
This album was commercially successful on its release, but the band members, especially Roger Waters and David Gilmour, had several negative opinions about it.
The cover was designed by Hipgnosis and was the first album of Pink Floyd's that did not feature the band's name on the cover, nor did it include photos of the band anywhere.
