Amon Amarth have always been known for thematizing the world of the Vikings and Norse mythology in their lyrics. The death metal scene likes it and so the Swedes presented their tenth studio album, "Jomsviking", in 2016.

In contrast to its predecessors, this time it is a real concept album. The story is told by a member of the Jomsvikings - a legendary Viking mercenary band. After he learns that his beloved has been married to someone else, he swears revenge and tries to win back his beloved. The story begins with a murder of passion, the first single from "Jomsviking": "First Kill".

With a total of eleven songs, Johan Hegg and co. tell a tragic story about love and revenge - naturally in the usual brilliant death metal style.

Amon Amarth are supported by session drummer Tobias Gustafsson (Vomitory). After Fredrik Andersson had to leave the band in 2015, he took over the drum parts on "Jomsviking", but is not a permanent member according to the band.

Amon Amarth invited another surprise guest for the vocals on the song "A Dream That Cannot Be". None other than metal queen Doro Pesch is involved here.

As on the previous album "Deceiver Of The Gods", the band worked together with Andy Sneap on the production. The English music producer and sound engineer has already sat at the mixing desk for Machine Head, Megadeath and Testament.
