To mark the news that "Boys Don't Cry" has become the first song by The Cure to reach 1 billion streams worldwide on Spotify, The Cure are releasing the 1986 mix digitally for the first time to coincide with their 40th anniversary.
"Boys Don't Cry" was originally released as a standalone single in the summer of 1979 and became the title track of the US edition of the band's debut album, "Three Imaginary Boys". The song went on to become one of the band's best-known songs and achieved international success in 1986 when Robert Smith re-recorded the vocals and remixed the backing track.
