Simon & Garfunkel were the most successful pop duo of the 60s - and although they parted ways in 1970, their longplayers continued to sell millions of copies in the 70s, 80s and 90s. The two had come together as a musical duo in 1957 when they were just 16 years old and performed under the name Tom & Jerry.

Initially, in keeping with the times, they were still fixated on rock'n'roll, but in the early 60s they developed their very own folk-pop mix, which they presented on the album "Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M." in 1964. Their worldwide breakthrough came with the song "The Sound Of Silence" in the fall of 1965, followed by further albums: "Sounds Of Silence", "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme", "The Graduate" and "Bookends" regularly occupied top positions in the charts. in 1970, the duo finally released their absolute masterpiece "Bridge Over Troubled Water", which became the best-selling album of the 70s and collected a total of six Grammys.

After their separation, the two have performed together from time to time, but instead of trying new things, they have remained true to their old hits.
