The Beach Boys – Greatest Hits

As part of their 50th anniversary celebrations, the Beach Boys have performed more than 50 concerts since April and have recorded the highest chart entry of their entire career on the Billboard Album Charts following the recent release of their new studio album That's Why God Made The Radio. The Beach Boys' 50th Anniversary Tour has recently completed the North American leg and is currently thrilling fans in Europe. They should now be delighted that the legendary band has announced the release of two new and formidably complementary hit collections on September 21, 2012, as well as the re-release of twelve studio albums on Capitol / EMI, all digitally remastered, of course.

The new Beach Boys 50th Anniversary Greatest Hits collection contains 20 of the band's most popular songs, including "California Girls", "Good Vibrations", "Surfin' U. S.A.", "Wouldn't It Be Nice", "God Only Knows", "Kokomo" and their current single "That's Why God Made The Radio".

The albums in detail: Surfin' U. S.A.; Surfer Girl; Little Deuce Coupe; Shut Down, Volume 2; All Summer Long; The Beach Boys Today!; Summer Days (And Summer Nights!); Beach Boys Party!; Pet Sounds; Smiley Smile; Sunflower (stereo only) and Surf's Up (stereo only). With these releases, Smiley Smile and Beach Boys Party! make their stereo CD debut, The Beach Boys Today! and Summer Days (And Summer Nights!) even appear in stereo for the first time ever. Some key songs from the Beach Boys' career, including "Good Vibrations", "Help Me, Rhonda", "I Get Around" and "409", are now available for the first time in excellent stereo versions.

Beach Boys musicians Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks have reunited to embark on a huge worldwide 50th Anniversary Tour in this memorable year. And with That's Why God Made The Radio, they have recorded their first studio album of new Beach Boys songs since their 1989 long player Still Cruisin', featuring all the surviving original musicians. The new album, produced by Brian Wilson and Mike Love (executive producer), entered the Billboard Albums Charts at number three and has been received with enormous enthusiasm. The work has been extensively praised in numerous leading press publications. Rolling Stone recently praised the album as a "breezy, refreshing nostalgia trip", People magazine highlighted the "wonderfully intricate, swooning harmonies" and the Associated Press found that "the songs take us back to a time when people still wore Jesus flats, polished their surfboards and swung on their hot rods."

For five decades now - in fact, this is the first American pop band to pass the 50-year career milestone - the Beach Boys have been musically synonymous with an eternal summer. formed in 1961 in Hawthorne, California, the Beach Boys originally consisted of three brothers, Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson (all teenagers at the time), their cousin Mike Love and their school friend Al Jardine. In 1962, their neighbor David Marks joined the band, which was just recording its first wave of hits on Capitol Records, but left at the end of 1963. in 1965, Bruce Johnston joined the band because Brian Wilson no longer wanted to go on tour, but wanted to concentrate on composing and producing.

The Beach Boys signed their contract with Capitol Records in July 1962 and released their first album, Surfin' Safari, in the same year. The album spent 37 weeks in the Billboard charts and catapulted the young band, who quickly became popular thanks to their radiant vocal harmonies and casual Californian style, into the ranks of international pop stars. The collaboration between Brian Wilson and Mike Love produced numerous gigantic hits and under Brian Wilson's direction, the musicians broke away from their original focus on surf rock and broadened their musical horizons to such an extent that they became the most outstanding American band of the 1960s.

in 1966, the Beach Boys were one of the first bands to found their own label, Brother Records, Inc (BRI), in which the band members were also the shareholders and Capitol Records their distribution partner. BRI still manages the intellectual property of the Beach Boys and, in consultation with Capitol / EMI and other label partners, takes care of the exploitation of the catalog as well as the rights to names, logos, images and the like.

The Beach Boys still hold the Billboard / Nielsen SoundScan's record as the best-selling American band in terms of albums and singles. They are also the band with the most Billboard Top 40 hits (36). 'Sounds Of Summer: The Very Best Of The Beach Boys' has now gone triple platinum in the US and Rolling Stone named 'The SMiLE Sessions', released worldwide last November, as the most important catalog release of the year.

in 1988, the Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and honored with the Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY. The Beach Boys are an American institution and globally celebrated pop culture icons.
