With a career that stretches back to the heights of post-bop in the mid-Sixties, the octogenarian American jazz saxophonist Charles Lloyd was spurred on by the travails of lockdown to record with a new backing band on The Sky Will Still Be There Tomorrow. Pianist Jason Moran, bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Brian Blade help bring to life a double album’s worth of Lloyd’s originals, both new compositions and old tracks re-imagined.
