Chesney Henry Baker Jr. was so much more than just a trumpeter. To some, a Bix Beiderbecke for the post-bebop generation, creating lyrical phrases for the ages that sometimes brimmed with joy or conveyed a melancholy beauty so sad you could almost hear the tears. To others, he was a Hollywood hero with flaws, a face that set him apart from the usual 52nd Street icons. A "From Here To Eternity" Montgomery Clift or James Dean in deep frustration in "Rebel Without a Cause".

The album "Chet", released in 1959, was one of the trumpet star's last recordings before he returned to Europe to record the famous Milano Sessions.
