The biggest selling UK single of all time, Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" is widely regarded as one of the most groundbreaking records in rock history. Taken from Queen's 1975 masterpiece LP, A Night At The Opera, "Bohemian Rhapsody" was the album’s centrepiece. It defied all convention, combining elements of opera, vaudeville, and rock into a single six minute epic, which Queen released as a single in full, without any edit. Written by singer Freddie Mercury, "Bohemian Rhapsody" topped the UK Singles Chart for nine weeks on its original release, then again for another five weeks following Mercury’s tragic death in 1991, and again reaching Number 2 in the charts after it appeared in the 1992 film, Wayne’s World.
The single has solved over 6 million copies worldwide. The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2004 and achieved Diamond sales status in the US in 2021 (denoting digital sales / streams equal to 10 million units).
