Wintersun – Wintersun

Wintersun is the side-project of Finnish heavy metal vocalist Jari Mäenpää, who quit the folk metal outfit Ensiferum in 2003. The following year saw the release of Wintersun’s eponymous debut album, with Mäenpää playing every instrument himself (except for the drums, played by Kai Hahto of grindcore band Rotten Sound) and coming up with a diverse affair that encompassed speed metal to slower tracks more influenced by folk and neo-classical music.
