After hinting at the upcoming release at Tyler, The Creator's Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival last weekend, the Mac Miller Estate announces the release of the album "Balloonerism". Along with the official announcement of the album, the Estate also shares the trailer for the accompanying movie, directed by Samuel Mason.
About the release, his family shares:
"Many of Malcolm's fans are familiar with "Balloonerism", a full-length album Malcolm produced around the time of the release of "Faces" in 2014. It's a project that was of great importance to Malcolm - to the extent that he commissioned the artwork for it and there were regular discussions about when it should be released, although ultimately "GO:OD AM" and subsequent albums took precedence.
We feel that the project demonstrates both the breadth of his musical talent and his fearlessness as an artist. Considering that unofficial versions of the album have been circulating the internet for years, and the release of "Balloonerism" was something Malcolm often cited as important to him, we felt it appropriate to present an official version of the project to the world. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce that 'Balloonerism' will be released in January 2025."
The album was made during the same creative period that Mac was working on "Watching Movies with the Sound Off", "Delusional Thomas", "Faces" and other projects, and represents the creative ambition he had regardless of musical genre.
