Bill Henderson may not have been a household name among jazz singers, but this 1963 release raises a valid point that maybe he should have been. Of course, taking on this mix of standards with theOscar Peterson Trio – including Ed Thigpen (drums) and Ray Brown (bass), certainly could make a lesser talent look better. But Henderson matches the group’s ability and elevates classics like “All or Nothing At All,” and “You Are My Sunshine” with his own point of view.
