Shinedown are a record-breaking band. The hard rockers from Florida have released six albums to date, the last four of which have reached the Top 10 in the USA. They also have the most number one singles ever in the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts with 16, and all of their released singles have reached the Top 5 of the charts.

in 2022, the quartet will carry on and release their new seventh album "Planet Zero".

The record, which comprises an incredible 20 tracks, was written during the Covid-19 pandemic and, like its predecessor "Attention Attention" (2018), was produced and mixed by bassist Eric Bass (yes, that's his real name) in his newly built Big Animal Studio in Charleston, South Carolina.

Lead singer Brent Smith described the sound of the album as much more reduced than previous albums. Controversial in content, it would also touch on topics that the band had shied away from in the past.

This is already clear in the first single from "Planet Zero", the title track, which was released in January to coincide with the album announcement. Accompanied by explosive rock, Smith sings about the increasing division in our society, which he commented on as follows: "When we exclude each other and allow the information we consume and the way we interact to divide us, we lose our humanity. If you take your eyes off your smartphone for a moment, you will realize that there are quite a few people out there who are doing good and trying to take care of each other. At the same time, however, ever larger sections of society are drifting into unattainable spheres. 'Planet Zero' is aimed at all of us. The fact is that we are all here on this planet, come what may. Therefore, it is time to look forward together with empathy, perseverance and strength. With this in mind ... welcome to 'Planet Zero'."
