Mana Mana's classic album Murheen laakso celebrates its 25th anniversary with a vinyl and CD reissue out in November via Svart Records
Founded in Joensuu, Finland in the late 1980s by singer-guitarist Jouni Mömmö and guitarist Otra Romppanen, Mana Mana released only one full-length album before Mömmö's death in 1991. Otra, who was responsible for the band's unique guitar sound as both arranger and producer, worked on Mömmö's unreleased songs to create the album Murheen laakso, which was originally released on CD by Riemu Records in 2000.
Svart Records released two vinyl editions of the album in 2012 and 2015, both of which sold out in a heartbeat. After more than ten years of waiting, the 25th anniversary edition of this massive classic is now available on CD and vinyl, complete with appropriate liner notes.
Mana Mana performed for the last time in September 2001. Murheenlaakso, formed by the members of Mana Mana, has performed selectively over the years and will be one of the acts at the Melancholy Mass Festival in Jyväskylä, Helsinki and Tampere in November, alongside My Dying Bride, The Man-Eating Tree, and Sepulchral Curse. Pre-sale tickets for the gigs are currently on sale.
