It is generally known that Halloween was Frank Zappa's favorite holiday. There was also a Halloween concert tradition in New York City.
Every year, Zappa played several concerts during the Halloween holiday. For several nights. The annual event grew in popularity over the years. in 1977, it finally culminated in a major movie event ("Baby Snakes - The Movie"). the climax was finally reached in 1978. Frank's interaction with his New York audience is legendary.
"This is it! This is the BIG ONE", said Zappa in his opening monologue. And it was. The Halloween spectacle of 1978 seemed to be the pinnacle of an era.
The concert is available as a "Blood Spatter" vinyl set with concert highlights and a booklet with rare photos by Lynn Goldsmith.
