Mel Carter's debut album "When A Boy Falls In Love", originally released in 1963 on Sam Cooke's SAR Records/Derby label, has been available again as an LP since May 2022.

The album, produced by Sam Cooke and J.W. Alexander, contains songs written by Cooke and Alexander as well as "Why I Call Her Mine", an original composition by Mel Carter, which was released as a single in 1963.

Mel Carter was named one of the top 10 male newcomer singers of 1963 by Cash Box and performed "When A Boy Falls In Love" on numerous television programs, including Dick Clark's American Bandstand. The title song "When a Boy Falls in Love" stayed in the pop charts for 10 weeks. R&B connoisseur Bill Dahl contributed the liner notes after a conversation with Carter, enhancing the otherwise faithfully restored package.
