Hardcore punk for pop fans

Quality and quantity: Turnstile can do both. After the American hardcore heroes released their new EP "Turnstile Love Connection" in June 2021, they are also presenting their new, third album "Glow On" in August.

the quintet, which still consists of Brady Ebert (lead guitar), Daniel Fang (drums, percussion), Brendan Yates (lead vocals), "Freaky" Franz Lyons (bass, percussion, vocals) and, since 2016, Pat McCrory (rhythm guitar), has composed 15 tracks for the album. This also includes the four songs on the EP: "Holiday", "Mystery", "No Suprise" and "T.L.C.".

Recorded with producer Mike Elizondo and co-produced by Yates, "Glow On" follows on from the 2018 album "Time & Space", with which Turnstile broke new ground in hardcore and expanded stylistic boundaries. The new record doesn't shy away from genre boundaries either and instead draws on a broad musical spectrum: hardcore meets pop and R'n'B. So it's no surprise that the band collaborated with English singer, songwriter and producer Dev Hynes, aka Blood Orange, for a few songs, including the single "Alien Live Call" and "Lonely Dezires". There are also a few vocal contributions on "Endless".

Turnstile was founded in 2010 in Baltimore, Maryland. Since then, the band has released three EPs and two albums: "Nonstop Feeling" (2015) and "Time & Space" (2018). Their music is best categorized as hardcore punk. However, they have always been open to experimentation and new influences. The US magazine NPR already wrote about their single "Holiday": "Turnstile have the ability to entice even the most pop-savvy listener with their spectacular hooks". The New York magazine The Fader has already voted the song one of the "20 Best Rock Songs Right Now".
