Oscar Peterson's trio with bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen was one of the most popular and swinging jazz formations of the 1960s. The perfectly attuned musicians were an unbeatable team live.
Verve Records has now discovered a completely unreleased concert from the trio's heyday in its band archive: the three musicians thrilled the audience at Baker's Keyboard Lounge in Detroit for two weeks in August 1960. The LP release of the concert recording planned at the time did not take place and instead now, shortly after Peterson's 100th birthday, delights his many fans.
