From the early ’90s well into the 2000s, the Italian label family MEDIA Records enjoyed tremendous chart success and a strong mainstream presence thanks to artists such as Mauro Picotto, Gigi D’Agostino, Cappella, and Prezioso.

It’s easy to forget that, alongside its chart successes, the label also maintained strong ties to the underground and club culture, which was reflected in countless releases that are now rightly revered as cult classics—Ricardo Ferri (aka Ricky Effe), Mario Piu, Saccoman, and—time and again—Mauro Picotto under numerous pseudonyms all indulged their passion for tasteful and/or relentless tracks and remixes that were too uncompromising for the charts and clearly geared toward club use! On this mix CD, many of these tracks are now being rediscovered and woven together by veteran DJ Chris Kionke, who aims to introduce these classics to a new audience and is set to bring the treasures of yesteryear to today’s dance floor.
