The most sought-after Miles Davis reissue is released in spectacular style to mark his centenary. What began as a Christmas residency at the Plugged Nickel Café in Chicago became the crucible in which the Second Great Quintet developed its identity. Miles, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams delivered a masterclass in risk-taking and inventiveness, deconstructing familiar melodies and spontaneously reassembling them. Producer Teo Macero recorded every note of the seven sets on December 22 and 23, 1965. Parts of it were released in the 70s and 80s, but it wasn't until the early 90s that Legacy released the entire seven-hour musical recording, which was immediately hailed as one of the greatest live jazz recordings of all time and received the coveted Penguin Jazz Guide "Crown".

Now, 30 years later and six decades after the concerts themselves, longtime fans finally get the reissue they've been asking for, and new fans have the opportunity to acquire one of the most mythical live albums in jazz history.

This new 8-CD edition mirrors the original order. Each CD comes in a newly designed mini gatefold sleeve housed in a gold foil-stamped slipcase. The 44-page perfect-bound book features rare Plugged Nickel photos and extensive new liner notes and commentary on each track by Syd Schwartz alongside Bob Blumenthal's original essay.
