Better Motörhead Than Dead - Live At Hammersmith brings back memories of a great evening that even the cosmopolitan city of London doesn't experience every day. In mid-June 2005, the queue of people outside the time-honored Hammersmith Odeon, the venue of many legendary concerts, stretched all the way to the tube station across the street. What had happened? Motörhead had issued an invitation to their 30th anniversary and well over 5000 fans responded to the call. The number would undoubtedly have been significantly higher had the British metropolis' authorities not rigorously limited the capacity of the legendary concert venue. Loved by their fans, respected by the press for the personal integrity of the three band members Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee, Motörhead experienced their seventh or eighth spring in the 30th year of their existence and were particularly generous on this evening.

The 23-song track listing presents a kind of best-of Motörhead program, in which classics such as 'Bomber', 'Ace Of Spades', 'Overkill', 'Sacrifice' and 'Iron Fist' are of course not to be missed. In addition, there are some songs from the 2005 release Inferno as well as various little surprises: In June 2005, Motörhead reached deep into drawers that had long been considered closed. "This one is from an album that you hated", Lemmy explained to the baffled audience and revived Another Perfect Day twice with 'Dancing On Your Grave' and 'I Got Mine'. But lo and behold: In 2005, the fans suddenly celebrated songs that they had once condemned. A truly remarkable evening.
