There may be several contenders for the title of Queen of Soul in the annals of music, but if there is one name that will always appear on everyone's shortlist, it is Aretha Franklin.

But of course, it was Aretha's move from Columbia to Atlantic in 1967 that really sealed her success. She came right out with a Top 10 pop single, "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)," and promptly followed it up with her first chart-topper, "Respect." From then on, hits followed in quick succession: "Baby I Love You," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," "Chain of Fools" and "(Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone" were all released in '67 and all reached the Top 10.
