First new album in 24 years: "More" will be released in June 2025
Pulp announce their new album "More.", their first in almost 24 years. It will be released by Rough Trade Records. The first herald is the anthemic single "Spike Island", with its synthesizers, violins and slide guitars, produced by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Fontaines DC), who is also responsible for the album's production.
The lyrical inspiration for "Spike Island" came from co-writer Jason Buckle (Relaxed Muscle), who was present at the Stone Roses' infamous '90s Spike Island gig. A DJ there had been shouting "Spike Island, come alive!" over and over again into the microphone all day long, which not only got on the nerves of the audience present, but also got stuck in Jarvis Cocker's head - who has now written the second song about Spike Island, even though he wasn't present at the concert itself.
