Madonna's sixth studio album was originally released in 1994 and features collaborations with Babyface (who also co-produced the album) and Björk. Following the rather provocative previous album, *Erotica*, it quickly became clear that some fans found it too offensive and explicit. On *Bedtime Stories*, however, you can hear the genuine—yet more subtle—eroticism in her music and her voice. The songs are consistently well-arranged and are shaped by the influence of black music and hip-hop from that era.

The result is an album where simply everything comes together perfectly. Softer sounds, mixed with catchy melodies and Madonna’s gentle voice. Above all, the visual design—not only of the album but of the entire era, including the music videos—is truly impressive. The album’s most successful single, “Take a Bow,” spent 10 weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
